I want to take an EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) course. That’s right I’m a geek and want to take the class b/c it interests me & I believe that it would be super-duper fun.
No biggie right?
The cost is approx. $1500, doable with a bit of saving. No biggie. The time commitment is manageable. 7 weekends. No biggie. Intellectual ability…check. No biggie. Physical ability to enjoy the class…biggie!
The course has a significant physical portion to it and that is a problem for me.
I am obese.
I am a middle aged woman who is 5’5” & weigh approx. 275 lbs.
This is no reason not to take the class but I have put it off at least 4 times now b/c I want to enjoy it and wouldn't fully enjoy it due to my physical limitations.
So we know the WHEN… 205 days from June 19, 2014. We know the WHYS…b/c I really really really want to!
And now the HOWS…
The plan of action is to build a healthier body that will love all the kneeling, bending & lifting that this course requires. To be more specific I will build muscle while I lose 43.5 lbs from now until the course begins.
I have 29 weeks to accomplish this. At a rate of 1.5 lbs per week, it is a very doable goal. 231.5 lbs is still more than ideal but it is a healthy goal within the time frame that I have.
I WILL NOT PUT OFF TAKING THIS COURSE AGAIN!
The dirty details:
I will commit to eating clean (ie no processed sugar, no wheat flour) & to do a minimum of 30 minutes of cardio & either weights or yoga 5 of 7 days of the week until January 10, 2015.
So there you have it folks…
